Meet the Yoga Teaching Team

Kate Tittley

Director & Lead Teacher

Hi, I'm Kate — the person behind This Is The Place MCR. I've been teaching yoga in Manchester and internationally for over eight years, and honestly, I stumbled into it the best possible way: desperate to escape a hospitality career that was making me miserable, I found yoga, and everything changed. What started as a Wednesday night class above a wine bar in West Didsbury grew into something much bigger — a community of brilliant people of all ages and backgrounds who just wanted to move, feel better, and be around good humans. This Is The Place was born from the desire to give that community a proper home. My approach is simple: knowledge is power. The more you understand your body, the less of a hard time you give yourself — and the more you show up in life as the most you-est version of you. Classes draw on vinyasa, rocket, mandala, yin, synergy, and more, but don't worry if that means nothing yet — explaining it is my job. Alongside yoga, I'm now a qualified Swedish massage therapist, because sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is put down what you've been carrying and let someone else help you reset. Yoga Alliance Certified | 6,000+ hours teaching | L3 Swedish Body Massage | Trained with The Yoga People, Simon Borg-Olivier, Kalikeli Movement Arts & more.

I initially discovered Yoga in my early 20s but used it sporadically simply as a way to have a “nice stretch”. It wasn’t until years later, following a series of life events, when my relationship with yoga truly started. Firstly, I found myself navigating PTSD following an abusive relationship. Secondly, I was burned out from my career as a Primary School teacher. I was completely disconnected from self. So, I started attending daily yoga classes. Finding myself in a beautiful community, I felt more connected to myself and more connected to others than I’d ever experienced before. As my practice evolved through the space and time in the spiritual teachings and self-enquiry, it continued to inform and shape the way my life needed to change. I am passionate about creating a community, to give back, to support beings to truly meet themselves exactly where they are, in all flavours of how we can be in our human experience. I believe the more we open back to ourselves, the more authentic we express as our true nature. Yoga is yours and it is your practice; I feel privileged to be able to be your guide for part of that journey. I weave spiritual and elemental enquiry into my teachings in an inclusive and embodied way, through Vinyasa, Hatha, Shake the Dust, Yin, Nidra and Restorative.

Hi! I’m Sophie (also known as Zosh). I’m passionate about creating inclusive, grounding spaces where everyone feels welcome, whatever their level. My classes are all about connection, movement, support, and of course, good vibes. Alongside teaching yoga, I come from a professional dance background, which I’m still actively involved in. I love bringing that sense of creativity, playfulness, and fluid movement into my teaching, encouraging people to move in a way that feels good for their own body. My hope is that you leave each class feeling stronger, more connected, and more at ease.

I found yoga for the first time at 14, and it changed my life even then. The practice gave me peace, discipline, stability — and a real sense of belonging and purpose. For me, yoga has never been just a physical practice; it's a daily opportunity to explore yourself and learn something new about who you are. With over 500 hours of training across Mandala, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Rocket, Tripsichore and Yin, my classes draw on all of these styles in equal measure. Expect strong, creative but structured sequences, with an emphasis on slowing down and connecting with the breath — allowing you to become more present, almost like a moving meditation. There's always a clear intention behind every class I teach, whether that's physical, energetic, emotional, or all three at once. My goal is simply to give you a frame — and let you draw your own unique experience within it.
